* *There is no formal audition required for Choral Union. Also, this choir is a great way to meet people and friends from other majors! What do you need to prepare for the audition (University Chorale or University Singers)? It is expected that members are able to learn most notes and rhythms outside of class. Membership is open to ALL students by audition, regardless of major or classification. The Sacramento State UNIVERSITY SINGERS, a select group of 20-24 singers (treble voices ), performs difficult a cappella and accompanied choral literature reflecting a variety of styles, genres, and time periods. The Sacramento State UNIVERSITY CHORALE, a highly-select group of 36-40 singers (SATB choir), performs challenging a cappella and accompanied choral literature reflecting a variety of styles, genres, and time periods. Sac State offiers three Classical choirs: Proof of vaccination will permit the student to remove their mask for the actual audition/hearing. *Masks and social distancing will be observed for all auditions. The camera device should be placed where the student and the instrument the student is playing is in full view and not with the bell pointed directly at the camera. Third, students should then video themselves (with a phone or webcam or some other video recording device) performing the excerpts. Practice pads are OK for the snare drum excerpts if a snare drum is not available. Please perform the excerpts in the order they are presented.

You do not need to be a music major to participate in these ensembles, but you must complete an audition.įirst, students interested in Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and the Symphony Orchestra wind and percussion sections should fill out the Audition Registration form: Completing the video audition is a three-step process. Percussionists MUST audition on both the snare drum and keyboard percussion parts.Wind and Percussion Auditions for Fall 2021 will be conducted by video submission.
